Works by the master Julio Rosado Del Valle

On Thursday, January 26, the exhibition Paintings by Master Julio Rosado del Valle in the Dr. Amaury Rosa Silva Collection opens in Room 3 of the Museum of the Americas. This exhibition presents a group of works that were part of the collection of Dr. Heber Amaury Rosa Silva and that were acquired by Mr. Tomás Dayá. In a genuine interest in keeping the collection together and remaining in Puerto Rico, Mr. Dayá, through Alegría Gallery Work makes this collection available for the enjoyment of all lovers of Julio Rosado Del Valle's work," said López Vilella.

The exhibition includes a catalogue, written by professor and art critic José A. Pérez Ruiz. In his essay on the collection, Pérez Ruiz states, "The art of collecting is an extremely delicate task because it involves curating and requires patience. It's necessary to preserve the moment when significant pieces appear in one form or another." This is demonstrated in this collection of 28 works.

Pérez Ruiz recounts how doctor and collector Rosa Silva developed a visionary flair that allowed him to acquire pieces that, for the most part, are anthological milestones in Julio Rosado Del Valle's artistic career. He also asserts that these pieces should be recognized as normative archetypes to be taken into consideration by new generations of artists, scholars, and researchers of our art history.

The exhibition will be open to the public until Wednesday, February 29, 2012.
