The Museum of the Americas joined other countries in the Caribbean region and the Netherlands for the presentation of the exhibition Caribbean Ties connecting people then and now. It is the product of a multidisciplinary research project entitled NEXUS 1492, originating from Leiden University in the Netherlands, which investigates the impacts of colonization in the Caribbean and the connections of early interactions between the New and Old Worlds. The exhibition ran from May to November 2019, and 17,836 people were able to view and interact with it. As part of the public program of the exhibition, the following discussion was held: “21st-Century Caribbean Archaeology: Historical, Transboundary, and Disciplinary Connections”, with the participation of anthropologist and archaeologist Jaime R. Pagán Jiménez, geochemist Gareth Davies and archaeologist Miguel Rodríguez López.
