Podcast Portals

As part of the public program of the permanent exhibition Popular Arts in the Americas, a podcast was created which we called “Portals"and a series of activities were carried out within the framework of the project highlighting the value of our Popular Arts sponsored by Mid Atlantic Arts.

Portals: A podcast from the Museum of the Americas documents artists and artisans through interviews, some of which are accompanied by workshops, musical performances, and more. Our main objective is to highlight the importance of documenting the stories, processes, anecdotes, and knowledge of artists and artisans within the Popular Arts, primarily in Puerto Rico, for present and future generations.

In this first season, we feature interviews with Gladys Serrano, a textile artist and artisan; Ángel "Papo" del Valle, a percussion drum artisan and musician; André Sanfiorenzo, an artisan and arborist who created the hut at the El Indígena de Las Américas venue; and other guests.

This project was made possible in part by the Mid Atlantic Folk and Traditional Arts-Community Projects program of  Mid Atlantic Arts , with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
