The photography exhibition Ricardo Alegría: An Intimate View, by photographer Chendo Pérez, introduces the public to the historical significance of an 18th-century house (1719), the Casa de los Azulejos, located in Old San Juan. Its restoration was directed by Ricardo E. Alegría in the 1960s, when he acquired it.
Pérez includes 55 photographs showing the excellent condition of the building after 50 years of restoration.
The photographs provide an insight into a large building, allowing us to appreciate its history and the colonial architecture that has remained unchanged. The photos also show a historic house that tells us about our past and the life of a man who changed the Puerto Rican people's view of their culture. The exhibition will be open to the general public until Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Room 8.
